Carla Sonheim's examples are so simple, and make the lesson look so easy. Alas, I did not find it easy, and do not like the results. Number 11 is cute, but it's a copy from the book that came as a last ditch attempt to draw something that looked remotely like a cute dog. Other than that, numbers 2 and 12 are the only ones that show any potential in my mind. But it was just a quick exercise, so I won't be too hard on myself ;)
What creative endeavours do you have to give yourself a break about?
These are so fun! And 15 really made me smile. What a great idea: index card sketches! Not as imposing as a *moleskin* sketchbook.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Tammy -- Carla instructed the use of little white index cards because it's so much less intimidating than using "good" paper :)It diminishes the stress of having to perform well! LOL
ReplyDeleteWonderful!!! I was so surprised when I started reading. You don't like them????I was thinking how amazing they were. So whimsical and I love trying to use as few marks as possible in my own stuff also. I like to start with white chalk and draw the whatever it is then find what important and go with the lightest colors to the darkest. I like short stories. These are simple and I think wonderful!
